An excellent apple crisp studded with walnuts and spiced with cinnamon and nutmeg.  Serve with ice cream for a wonderful fall dessert!

  • 5 Pounds
    Apples, peeled, quartered, and cored
  • 3/4 Cups
    Sugar, divided
  • 2 Tablespoons
    Lemon Juice
  • 3 Teaspoons
    Cinnamon, divided
  • 1/4 Teaspoon
    Nutmeg, grated
  • 1 Cup
    All-Purpose Flour
  • 1/2 Cup
    Brown Sugar, packed
  • 1/2 Cup
    Butter, unsalted, cut into pieces
  • 1/2 Cup
    Walnuts, chopped

  1. Preheat oven to 375 degrees F. Butter a 13" x 9" baking dish.
Add apples, 1/4 cup sugar, lemon juice, 2 teaspoons cinnamon and nutmeg; toss. Arrange apples evenly in the dish.

  2. In another bowl, combine flour, brown sugar, remaining granulated sugar and 1 teaspoon cinnamon. Cut in butter until coarse crumbs form; stir in nuts. Crumble topping over the apples.

  3. Bake until golden and bubbly, about 50 minutes.

  4. Serve with ice cream, if desired.
