An excellent apple crisp studded with walnuts and spiced with cinnamon and nutmeg. Serve with ice cream for a wonderful fall dessert!
Preheat oven to 375 degrees F. Butter a 13" x 9" baking dish.
Add apples, 1/4 cup sugar, lemon juice, 2 teaspoons cinnamon and nutmeg; toss. Arrange apples evenly in the dish.
In another bowl, combine flour, brown sugar, remaining granulated sugar and 1 teaspoon cinnamon. Cut in butter until coarse crumbs form; stir in nuts. Crumble topping over the apples.
Bake until golden and bubbly, about 50 minutes.
Serve with ice cream, if desired.
