This recipe makes a surprisingly good ice cream for one having only 4 ingredients.  I added an additional teaspoon of vanilla to the original recipe which only called for 1 teaspoon.  Coconut extract could be added instead of vanilla with some shredded coconut during the last 5-10 minutes of freezing to make coconut ice cream.  For Mint Chip omit the vanilla and add 1/2 teaspoon mint extract and 1/2 cup mini chocolate chips during the last 5-10 minutes of freezing.  This recipe gives directions for using a Cuisinart Frozen Yogurt-Ice Cream & Sorbet maker but it could also be made in a traditional churn.  Yield is a quart so if you’re using a churn you might want to double the recipe – or more depending on the size of your churn.

Recipe from Cuisinart.

  • 2 Cups
    Heavy Cream, chilled
  • 2 Cups
    Whole Milk, chilled
  • 3/4 Cups
  • 1-2 Teaspoon
    Vanilla Extract

  1. Place ingredients in a medium mixing bowl and combine until well blended.

  2. Pour into freezer bowl, turn the machine ON and let mix until mixture thickens, about 25-30 minutes.

  3. Transfer ice cream to an airtight container and place in freezer until firm, about 2 hours.

  4. Serve with desired toppings & savor the flavor!
