A delicious and moist muffin enhanced with allspice, cinnamon, nutmeg, applesauce and nuts!

Note:  I could not enter the butter together in the recipe, because the format would not allow me to, but the 1 stick of butter and the 3 tablespoons of butter go together in the muffin batter, just to clarify.

Ingredients

  • 1 1/2 Cup
    All-Purpose Flour
  • 1 1/2 Teaspoon
    Baking Powder
  • 1/2 Teaspoon
    Baking Soda
  • 1/2 Teaspoon
    Cinnamon, ground
  • 1/2 Teaspoon
    Allspice
  • 1/4 Teaspoon
    Nutmeg, ground
  • 1/4 Teaspoon
    Salt
  • 2
    Eggs
  • 1 Cup
    Brown Sugar, packed firmly
  • 1/2 Cup
    Butter, melted
  • 3 Tablespoons
    Butter, melted
  • 1 Cup
    Applesauce, unsweetened
  • 1 Cup
    Pecans or Walnuts, chopped
  • 2 Tablespoons
    Sugar
  • 1/4 Teaspoon
    Cinnamon, ground
  • 1/4 Teaspoon
    Allspice
  • 1/4 Teaspoon
    Nutmeg, ground

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 400 degrees F. Grease 12-cup muffin tin.

  2. Stir together flour, baking powder, baking soda, spices and salt in a bowl.

  3. Whisk together eggs and brown sugar in a large bowl until combined well, then add butter, a little at a time, whisking until mixture is creamy.

  4. Stir in applesauce, then fold in flour mixture until flour is just moistened. Stir in nuts and divide batter among muffins cups.

  5. For topping, stir together all topping ingredients and sprinkle on top of muffins.

  6. Bake until muffins are puffed and golden, about 20 minutes.

  7. Cool in a pan on a rack 5 minutes, then remove muffins from pan and cool slightly.
